Muse
Kā-Muriwai Arrowtown
This store is a significant milestone for Muse, and sees the Arrowtown boutique joining the brand’s existing locations in Ponsonby, Newmarket, and Havelock North
The intention was to offer Muse customers a relaxed, elegant retreat-like space to experience some of the world’s most exquisite designs. The careful detailing throughout the interior draws inspiration from 18th century Italian furniture and is articulated in a pared-back modern way. We felt it important to reference the past to ensure the space reflects the history and philosophy of the brand.
The selection of materials provides a subtle nod to its alpine location; the fireplace is crafted from Oamaru stone, the entrance features local schist, and the solid walnut floors and cabinetry add warmth and character. Lighting was crucial to the success of the space, influencing both how well a customer feels and how the clothing is showcased. Light was intended to be part of the palette of materials as well as enhancing them.
Despite being new to Arrowtown, Muse has a 30-year history in New Zealand. The objective for Muse Arrowtown was to present a confident interior that clearly articulates the brand’s established position in the world of luxury fashion.
